About the Conference

Many Deaf people use (and love) Macintosh computers. Even more Deaf people would enjoy having Macs in their lives if they saw what they could do—and could get hands-on experience learning how to use them. Even those who already have Macs, and have been using them for years, would like to see the latest developments in software and peripherals.

The Deaf Mac Conference is a first-of-its-kind event in the Deaf Community. It features information, presentations, hands-on workshops and demonstrations, and exhibits of the latest and best technology. It'll be much like any other Mac expo, with one BIG difference: all communication is done in American Sign Language.

Previously, Deaf people had to attend events like this with an interpreter or notetaking friend (if they were lucky) or without any kind of communicative support (if they weren't). The Deaf Mac Conference will be Deaf-accessible to all participants. Instead of having interpreters relaying spoken narrative, the presenters will sign directly to the attendees, and vice versa.

To ensure optimum benefit for all, attendees will be divided into two groups. The five workshops offered will be scheduled so that everyone in both groups can participate in them.

CEUs will be offered, so anyone who wants credit for participating in the workshops can obtain a certificate.
